Barbaresco is situated in the heart of the Langhe region of Piemonte and is known all over the world for its fine Barbaresco wines. Production of wine has been carried out here successfully since Roman times and is itself a good reason for a visit.
Points of architectural interest include the Barbaresco tower which is nine metres long on each side and thirty-six metres high, with its origin being traced back to the 12th century. The tower stands at the top of the town while just below it is the parish church of S.Giovanni Battista, built between 1728 and 1756.
The town has its own Regional Enoteca and several excellent restaurants in addition to various shops and bars.
Barbaresco has a population of approximately 800 and is situated 253 metres above sea level.
